Monean Maritime SovereigntyPhysical Attributes: Humanoid. Historical Notes: The Moneans were once nomadic before discovering an artificial sphere of water in space 300 years prior to Stardate 52179.4. The water planet -- now held together by an artificial gravity device more than 100,000 years old -- was once part of a planetary ecosystem inhabited by an advanced civilization, whose inhabitants used an elaborate kinetic transfer to draw the planet's oceans to an orbiting reactor over a 200-year period. The Moneans realized they could farm sea vegetation, extract oxygen from the ocean for their ships, and create a permanent home, including an industrial infrastructure and undersea dwellings, but many still live aboard their ships like their ancestors. By Stardate 52179.4, they had a population of more than 80,000. Eventually, the oxygen refineries polluted the ocean, and the alien gravity reactor began to fail. The Monean Maritime Sovereignty is governed by 47 regional sovereigns. |
