With the ship's food supplies running low, the Voyager goes to a nearby Class-M planet to find supplies. Captain Janeway orders Paris and Neelix to take a shuttle through the planet's thick atmosphere, but the shuttle crashes on the surface. Paris and Neelix find shelter in a cave, where they find alien eggs and a humanoid-reptilian hatchling. Neelix insists that they care for the hatchling until its parents return; they decide to put their rivalry over Kes aside and work together to keep the alien child alive. Factoid: Neelix's Alfarian hair pasta is made from the follicles of a mature Alfarian, harvested during shedding season in early fall. It is very high in protein.
