The E.M.H. orders Captain Janeway to take some recreational time, so she returns to her holonovel Janeway Lambda One as Mrs. Davenport, a governess in ancient England. After making contact with the mysterious Botha, Janeway begins seeing elements of her holonovel around the ship, and Kes also sees her hallucinations. Other members of the crew become incapacitated by delusions until only Kes and the E.M.H. are left to fight off the telepathic attack by the Botha.
