| Episode Title: "TATTOO" Production Number: 825 Original Air Date: 11-06-95 Stardates: ~ Synopsis: The Voyager crew is searching a planet for minerals when Chakotay sees a recent marking similar to those his tribal ancestors used. The Voyager follows a recent warp trail leading to another planet, where the crew detects polyferranide needed for the warp engine. Ensign Samantha Wildman is experiencing discomfort from her pregnancy. Kes suggests the E.M.H. should experience sickness to sympathize with his patients, so he programs himself to experience symptoms of the Levodian flu. On the planet, Chakotay encounters the extraterrestrial 'Sky Spirits' who first visited Earth 45,000 years ago; the aliens met a group of nomadic hunters and gave them an inheritance -- a genetic bonding -- so they might thrive and protect Earth; the descendants of the nomadic hunters migrated to a new, unpopulated land; after others came to the land with weapons and disease, the inheritors scattered and sought refuge in other societies; when the aliens returned twelve generations ago, they found no sign of the inheritors. Chakotay's father, Kolopak, led him on an expedition when he was a teen-ager to contact the lost descendants of the inheritors, and the tribe gave Kolopak a tattoo to honor the 'Sky Spirits.' After Kolopak died defending their colony, Chakotay wore the same tattoo to honor his father, and joined the Maquis to defend his home. Alien Races: *'The Sky Spirits' Starships: |
