Synopsis: Vulcan Ensign Vorik undergoes the pon farr mating cycle; he chooses B'Elanna Torres as his mate and makes a telepathic link with her before she fights him off. Torres begins to display symptoms of the pon farr and initiates a Klingon mating ritual with Lt. Tom Paris.

While searching for gallicite on an abandoned Sakari mining colony, the Voyager crew discovers the Sakari living underground to avoid detection by invaders that destroyed their colony. While helping to dismantle the remains of the colony, the crew finds a drone's body on a planet, alerting them that they are approaching Borg space.
