Episode Title: "All Good Things..."

Production Number: 277-278
Original Air Date: Week of 05-25-94
Stardates: 47988., 41153.7

Synopsis: Captain Picard finds himself moving back and forth through time, between the present, on Stardate 47988, and 25 years in the future, when he is a retired ambassador, and in the past, when he first took command of the U.S.S. Enterprise on Stardate 41153.7.

In the future time frame, LaForge travels to Earth from Rigel Three to visit the elderly Picard, who suffers from Irumodic Syndrome, an incurable deterioration of the synaptic pathways. He takes Picard to see Professor Data at Cambridge University, who offers to help investigate Picard's time-shifting.

In the past time frame, Lt. Tasha Yar shuttles Captain Picard aboard the shuttlecraft Galileo to the U.S.S. Enterprise for the first time. After Picard takes command, he learns that a large spatial anomaly has appeared in the Romulan Neutral Zone.

In the present time frame, Admiral Nakamura informs Captain Picard of unusual activity in the Devron system in the Romulan Neutral Zone, where a spatial anomaly has appeared. Federation and Romulan starships gather along the Neutral Zone, and Commander Tomalak of the Romulan Warbird Terix agrees to meet the Enterprise in the Devron system to investigate the anomaly together.

In the future time frame, Picard, Data, and LaForge contact Admiral Riker at Starbase 247, but he refuses to help them travel to the Devron system inside the border of the former Romulan Empire, which has been taken over by the Klingons. But after an outbreak of Terrellian plague on Romulus, the Klingons are allowing Federation medical ships to cross the border, so Picard asks his ex-wife, Captain Beverly Picard, for passage on her starship, the U.S.S. Pasteur.

They contact Worf, who is now governor of H'atoria, a small Klingon colony near the border. Governor Worf agrees to accompany the Pasteur through the Neutral Zone, but when they arrive at the coordinates where the anomaly was in the past, they find nothing. Professor Data modifies the U.S.S. Pasteur's main deflector to emit an inverse tachyon pulse, to scan beyond the subspace barrier. Before the Pasteur can complete its scans, it is attacked by two Klingon attack cruisers, but Admiral Riker arrives and rescues the Pasteur's crew aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise.

In the present time frame, the anomaly is 200 million kilometers in diameter. Captain Picard orders Lt. Commander Data to scan the anomaly with an inverse tachyon pulse from the U.S.S. Enterprise's main deflector. Data determines that the anomaly is a multi-phasic temporal convergence in the space-time continuum, an eruption of anti-time.

In the past time frame, the anomaly is 400 million kilometers in diameter. Picard orders Lt. Commander Data to modify the main deflector to scan the anomaly with an inverse tachyon pulse.

Between his time-shifting, Captain Picard encounters Q, who informs him that his actions will destroy the human race. Q takes Picard to Earth before life first evolved, and Picard sees the anomaly filling most of the quadrant, growing larger the farther back in time it goes.

Picard realizes that his orders to scan the same space with inverse tachyon pulses in three time periods created the the anomaly with three intersecting tachyon beams. Picard orders the U.S.S. Enterprise to enter the anomaly in all three time frames and use a static warp shell to contain the anti-time anomaly, causing it to collapse. Q informs Picard that he has successfully stopped the anomaly, and returns Picard to the present time frame, where the anomaly never existed.
