Episode Title: "THE XINDI"
Production Number: 053
Original Air Date: 09-10-03
Stardates: ~

Synopsis: Fifty light-years from Earth, the five species of the Xindi monitor the progress of the Enterprise through the Delphic Expanse, fearing it is the first of an invasion of Earth ships.

After six weeks in the Delphic Expanse searching for the Xindi, the Enterprise crew learns from a freighter captain that a Xindi man may be working in a trellium-D mine on a nearby planet.

Captain Archer and Commander Tucker bribe the mine foreman with half a liter of liquid platinum to let them see the Xindi worker, but the foreman takes them prisoner and plans to capture the entire Enterprise crew to become slave workers in the mines. The Xindi agrees to help Archer escape, and reveal the location of his planet, if they take him with them.

Lt. Reed leads an assault force, with several of the new Military Assault Command soldiers posted aboard the Enterprise, to retrieve Archer and Tucker from the mine, but the Xindi man is shot during the escape. Before dying, he gives Dr. Phlox coordinates to his planet.

Dr. Phlox studies the skin cells taken from the Xindi pilot of the probe that attacked Earth, and determines that he was reptilian, but genetically similar to the humanoid Xindi from the mine.

Arriving at the Xindi miner's coordinates, the Enterprise crew finds a debris field from a planet destroyed around 120 years ago. Captain Archer orders the Enterprise deeper into the Delphic Expanse, toward the Orassin distortion fields.

Since the death of his sister in the Xindi attack, Commander Tucker has been having trouble sleeping, and Dr. Phlox convinces T'Pol to teach him Vulcan neuro-pressure techniques so he will no longer need sedatives to sleep.
