Synopsis: The Enterprise arrives at a planet in the Delphic Expanse where humans from Nineteenth Century Earth are living in old Western settlements, centuries after rebelling against the Skagarans who abducted them from Earth as slaves 300 years ago. The "Skags" are now lower-class citizens in the human-dominated society.

Captain Archer learns that some humans and Skagarans have interbred over several generations, but most humans, such as Deputy Bennings, hate "Skags" and treat them with contempt. Archer reveals to Sheriff MacReady that the Enterprise crew is from Earth, where prejudice has been left behind, and tells him that someday Earth will send ships to return the descendants of the human slaves to their home planet.
