Episode Title: "CARBON CREEK"
Production Number: 027
Original Air Date: 09-25-02
Stardates: ~

Synopsis: While T'Pol was stationed in Sausalito, she took a five-day leave and went to Carbon Creek, an old mining town in Pennsylvania.

While discussing her annual crew evaluation over dinner, Captain Archer asks T'Pol about the trip. T'Pol tells Archer and Commander Tucker that in the Twentieth Century, her second foremother (her mother's mother's mother), T'Mir, was aboard a Vulcan ship that crash landed near Carbon Creek, Pennsylvania, while investigating the launch of Earth's first artificial satellite, Sputnik. The Vulcan crew lived among the humans in Carbon Creek for several months -- during which time T'Mir introduced the technology of Velcro to Pennsylvania -- before they were rescued by the Vulcan Survey Vessel D'Vahl, which responded to their distress signal received by a Tellarite freighter and forwarded to the High Command.

Archer and Tucker are not sure they believe T'Pol's story, which conflicts with the historical account of first contact with the Vulcans.

  • Factoid: It's been one year to the day since T'Pol officially joined the crew of the Enterprise.

  • Factoid: Every school kid knows that Zefram Cochrane met the Vulcans in Bozeman, Montana, on April 5, 2063.
