Synopsis: The Enterprise spends five days in orbit while negotiating with the Kreetassan Chancellory to acquire a needed plasma injector, but Captain Archer must first apologize for offending the Kreetassans months ago when he ate in front of them. While on the planet, the captain's dog, Porthos, further offends the Kreetassans by "watering" one of their Alvera trees outside the Hall of Diplomacy, which the Kreetassans consider cultural treasures.

Porthos picks up a pathogen while on the planet, and must be quarantined in Sick Bay until Dr. Phlox can find a cure. Captain Archer, concerned about his dog, tries to spend the night in Sick Bay, but gets little sleep between Dr. Phlox's nighttime activities and having to learn the protocols for a series of ritual apologies to the Kreetassans. Dr. Phlox decides to treat Porthos by transplanting a pituitary gland from a Calrissian Chameleon.
