Synopsis: The Enterprise crew comes across a mysterious damaged ship drifting in deep space and brings it into Launch Bay Two. Inside the small craft is a burned human body. The craft was found farther out than any known human has been before. Captain Archer wonders if the dead pilot could be Zefram Cochrane, who disappeared while piloting a one-man vessel.

While studying the ship, Commander Tucker and Lt. Reed discover that the ship has organic circuitry, and they find a hatch covering a vertical shaft leading to lower decks that are larger inside than the whole ship is outside.

A Suliban ship arrives and demands that the Enterprise turn over the ship, but the Enterprise fights off the Suliban.

Dr. Phlox discovers that the dead human's body also has genes from Vulcans, Terrelians, Rigelians, and another unidentified race -- the result of several generations of interspecies breeding. Archer enters Daniels' sealed quarters and uses his futuristic database to discover that the damaged ship is from almost 900 years into the future, and is powered by a temporal displacement drive.

As the Enterprise heads for a rendezvous with the Vulcan ship Tal'Kir, a Tholian ship arrives and demands that Archer surrender the ship, saying it has dangerous temporal radiation, but Archer threatens to destroy the ship if the Tholians try to take it.

A fleet of Suliban Cell-Ships pursues the Enterprise, but a fleet of Tholian ships has disabled the Vulcan ship and attacks the Suliban fleet. After destroying the Suliban Cell-Ships, the Tholians take the futuristic ship, but Commander Tucker activates a beacon he found inside the ship, and all traces of the ship vanish a few moments later. With the ship gone, the Tholians leave, and the Enterprise helps the Tal'Kir with repairs.
