Synopsis: The Xindi-Primate scientist, Degra, reports to the Xindi Council that a lab accident has delayed the weapon he is developing to destroy Earth.

Aboard the Enterprise, T'Pol continues to teach Vulcan neuro-pressure techniques to Commander Tucker. Captain Archer is still recovering from his recent experience of being transformed into a different species.

The Enterprise crew recently met a V'radian chemist named B'Rat Ud at a deuterium station on Norellus; the chemist claimed he knows how to synthesize trellium-D -- which can insulate ships against spatial anomalies in the Delphic Expanse.

Captain Archer goes to a trading barge on a water-covered planet to see the chemist, who trades his formula to make liquid trellium-D for some supplies from the Enterprise, including black pepper, paprika, mustard seed, cayenne, and other exotic Terran spices.

B'Rat Ud tells Captain Archer that two Xindi were recently on the planet doing business with another merchant. Archer goes to see the merchant, who sold two U'tani serpent women to Xindi-Reptilians. One of the merchant's alien slave girls, named Rajiin, escapes and asks Archer to take her with him. Rajiin says she is from the planet Oran'taku, but doesn't remember it, since she was taken away when she was very young.

Commander Tucker and Subcommander T'Pol attempt to synthesize the trellium-D from B'Rat Ud's formula, but it proves to be very volatile in its liquid state.

Rajiin studies the physiologies of Enterprise crew members and tries to escape to a waiting Xindi ship, but she is captured. She tells Captain Archer that the Xindi-Reptilians are building a bio-weapon at an unknown location, and they need data on humans to complete it.

A boarding party of Xindi-Reptilians and Xindi-Insectoids attacks the Enterprise and retrieves Rajiin, but one Xindi-Reptilian soldier is killed and his body is left behind. With the data Rajiin gathered about humans, the Xindi Council decides to proceed in developing a bio-weapon, in addition to Degra's planet-destroying weapon.
