Synopsis: The Enterprise picks up a distress call from the Vulcan starship Seleya, which entered the Delphic Expanse nine months ago. The Vulcan ship is adrift in an asteroid field that is rich in trellium ore. The Enterprise crew finds that the Vulcans were lining the ship's bulkheads with trellium-D to insulate the ship from spatial anomalies. The Vulcan crew has become violent and paranoid, and T'Pol begins to lose her emotional control while she is aboard the Seleya.

Dr. Phlox discovers that trellium-D is a potent neurotoxin to the Vulcan nervous system, disrupting synaptic pathways that control emotions. Captain Archer orders all the trellium ore the Enterprise crew has collected in the asteroid field to be sealed away in a cargo bay so it will not affect T'Pol.

  • Factoid: T'Pol was the Deputy Science Officer under Captain Voris on the Seleya for over a year, before she joined the Vulcan Consulate on Earth.
