Synopsis: Subcommander T'Pol analyzes the Xindi database and finds a pattern in the spatial anomalies, indicating that the anomalies occur at the intersections of gravimetric waves from two different spheres.

As the Enterprise searches for the second sphere, Ensign Sato is contacted by a telepathic alien from a nearby planet, who says he may be able to help them find the Xindi. Sato agrees to visit the alien's planet, while the Enterprise continues to search for the sphere causing the anomalies.

The alien, named Tarquin, has lived alone in exile on the planet for centuries. People on his homeworld, 30 light-years away, do not allow telepaths to live with the rest of the population. He is able to use an artifact from the Xindi weapon that attacked Earth to get mental impressions about the people who made it.

The Enterprise finds the second sphere, surrounded by intense gravitational anomalies. Commander Tucker insulates a shuttle pod with trellium-D, and he and Captain Archer use it to pass through the anomalies and cloaking field around the sphere and make detailed scans. With the new information, T'Pol calculates that there are at least 50 of the spheres in the Delphic Expanse generating gravitational anomalies.

Tarquin asks Ensign Sato to remain with him as his companion, but she refuses, wanting to return to the Enterprise. Tarquin lets her go, and gives her the coordinates to a Xindi colony where part of the planet-destroying weapon is being built.
